How we select and train our staff

At Camp Boomerang, much time and effort is put into choosing staff that exhibit responsibility and will be exciting role models for the campers. We select only the best applicants from the area, check three references along with performing a criminal history check on each employee. All staff attend a week long staff training where our counselors gain the knowledge and skills to put the YMCA’s core values into practice at camp.

Meet the Staff

Brian Frawley – Director of Camp Boomerang
Brian is a 2006 graduate of SUNY Fredonia in Western New York. While in college studying to be a middle school history teacher he spent a summer working for a YMCA summer camp and has been working for the YMCA ever since. Brian has worked in many Y’s including ones in New York, Wisconsin and Michigan. When Brian is not working with kids at the YMCA you can find him disc golfing at one of Michigan’s beautiful parks or kayaking all round Michigan’s water ways. All of our staff members undergo an extensive and professional training program in camper well being, activity leadership, the YMCA Core Values, and much more. The YMCA of Greater Flint and our staff are dedicated to providing a safe and fun week to your camper.
