How we select and train our staff

At Camp Boomerang, much time and effort is put into choosing staff that exhibit responsibility and will be exciting role models for the campers. We select only the best applicants from the area, check three references along with performing a criminal history check on each employee. All staff attend a week long staff training where our counselors gain the knowledge and skills to put the YMCA’s core values into practice at camp.

Meet the Staff

Richard Engelmann- Director of Community Day Camps
Richard is a 2006 graduate of Albion College, where he was involved in many activities, including baseball and singing in an acapella choir. Having majored in biology, he loves the outdoors and activities such as kayaking, disc golf and fishing. Linda Zeeb- Camp Boomerang Program Director
Linda comes into the summer with a wide range of knowledge and experience, having worked the previous 4 summers at Camp Copneconic’s day camp. During the school year, she is an instructor for Copneconic’s outdoor education program, and is an expert on making learning opportunities fun. She is very excited about all of the great activities that will be held at Boomerang, and can’t wait to give your child an experience they will never forget.
